FTC Career Step Refunds
The FTC is sending 42,794 payments totaling more than $15.5 million to people who paid for training programs from Career Step, an online career-training company the FTC accused of making false claims about job placement, externships and hiring partnerships. Payments arrive as a check or a PayPal payment: cash a check within 90 days, accept a PayPal payment within 30. The FTC's page does not state a date range for eligible purchases and describes no claim form, so call the refund administrator on 1-866-675-2824 to check whether you may be eligible. The FTC will not ask you to pay money to receive a refund.
There is no claim form for this one. The administrator pays consumers it has already identified, so the useful step is to make sure they can reach you — not to file anything. Anyone offering to file it for you, for a fee, is selling you nothing.
