What filing costs on every official site

Refund and settlement money goes unclaimed every year — not because the people it belongs to were ineligible, but because nobody told them in time.

Class-action settlements, FTC and CFPB refund programs, and state unclaimed-property offices all run on deadlines most people never hear about. This site tracks what is open, what it may pay, and when the deadline lands — then hands you the official link, free.

The difference

Free sites are usually free because you are the product

Most free settlement sites are free because the claimant is the product. Read their privacy policies and you will often find they share your details with law firms and lead buyers, and sell or share data for advertising. That is the business model. It is not ours.

Read the whole promise

We do not sell you.

  • We never sell or share your personal information
  • We never hand you to law firms or lead buyers
  • No cookies, no ad trackers
  • We never ask for the dangerous things

How it works

Three steps, and none of them cost anything

Tell us the coarse facts

States you have lived in, companies you have paid, roughly which years. Never a Social Security number, an account number, or a date of birth — we do not ask for them, and you should be wary of anyone who does.

Read a careful match

Each record comes back as may be eligible, unclear, or probably not. That is a research signal to help you decide what to read next — not a decision about your claim.

File it yourself, free

Open the official notice, check the real criteria, and file on the administrator or government site if you believe you meet them. We never submit anything on your behalf.

Why trust this

Cautious by design

We do not decide eligibility

We summarize public notices and show you where your answers overlap them. Only the official administrator or agency decides who is eligible and who gets paid.

Every record shows its source

Each entry carries the administrator or government page it came from, and the date we last checked it. Where anything here disagrees with the official notice, the notice is right and we are wrong.

Filing is free, always

No official claim carries a filing fee, and this site charges nothing either — there is no paid tier and no card field anywhere on it. Anyone charging you to file a claim is not us, and not legitimate.

Looking for a bank account, an insurance payout, or other property held by a state treasurer? Go straight to MissingMoney or your state site. This site is a research guide, not a government database.

Our free guide to finding money you are owed walks through every state and federal search worth running, what each one covers and misses, how to file without paying anyone, and how to spot the scams.

05 — FAQ

Straight answers

The short version: filing is free, we never touch your claim, and the official notice always wins.

Is this a scam?
Fair question — ask it of every site like this one. Here is the test: we never ask for a Social Security number, a bank account, or a payment of any kind, and never require an email address. Every record links out to the official page, where filing costs nothing. There is nothing here to buy and nothing here to sign up for.
Is this legal advice?
No. We summarize public notices for information only, and reading them does not create an attorney–client relationship. Only the official administrator or agency decides eligibility. For advice about your own situation, speak with a licensed attorney.
Do you file claims for me?
Never. You file on the official administrator or government website yourself, and it is free. We will never charge a filing or processing fee, and no legitimate service will either.
Where does the data come from?
Official administrator sites, FTC and CFPB refund pages, court dockets, USA.gov, and the NAUPA state-treasurer directory. Every record links back to its source, with the date we last checked it, so you can verify it yourself.
Will I actually get money?
Often not, and we will not pretend otherwise. Many settlements pay pro rata or only after a claims review, so final amounts land well below the advertised maximum. Treat every figure here as an estimate.
Do I have to give you an email address?
No. The only email box on the site is an optional one on the contact form, for people who want a reply. The quiz scores your answers on our server and shows the matches on the page — then discards them in the same request. Nothing is written to a database, there is no account to make, and we never learn who you are. Close the tab and there is nothing here to connect back to you.
