Legal — Your data
Privacy
This site is built to need as little of your information as possible, because the less we hold the less there is to lose. Here is the whole story, in plain language.
For the short version — and how to run the same test on any other site — read the no-sale promise.
What we collect
Nothing, unless you choose to write to us. There is no sign-up and no account anywhere on this site. While you answer the quiz, your answers are sent to our server each time the running match count updates, and once more when you ask for results; each time they are scored against the records and returned, and they are never written to a database, a log, or a file. The only things kept are a message you send through the contact form and a notice you send us through the submit-a-notice form, both covered below.
What we never ask for
No Social Security numbers, government IDs, account or card numbers, dates of birth, or access to your inbox or bank. Any service asking for those just to check your refunds is not us, and is worth walking away from.
We do not email you
There is no mailing list, no newsletter, and no reminder email. The only message you can ever get from us is a reply to one you sent through the contact form — and only if you chose to leave an address for it.
Messages you send us
The contact form is the one place on this site that keeps anything you type. A message — and your email address, if you give one — is stored with our host, Netlify, where only we can read it. We use it to act on your request and to reply, never for anything else; we never add it to a list, and we delete it once the matter is closed. Netlify also records the IP address and browser a submission came from, which its spam filter uses; that is deleted with the message. The email field is optional — leave it blank if you do not need a reply.
Notices you send us
The submit-a-notice form asks only for the public facts on a notice — the company, what it says, the deadline, a link — and refuses anything that looks like a Social Security, account or card number. What you send becomes an issue in our private GitHub repository, where only the maintainers can read it, so that we can check it against the official source. GitHub stores it on our behalf, and it stays there as the record of what we checked. A tip-off is never attached to a name, an email address or an account, because the form does not ask for any — and you can ask us through the contact form to delete one.
Where the data lives
The records themselves are published content, submitted notice tip-offs are held in our private GitHub repository so we can verify them, and contact-form messages are held by Netlify until they are dealt with. That is all the site stores. Your quiz answers are not part of it: they are kept in your own browser, and sent to us only to be scored.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies. Not one — there is no login, no session, and nothing here that needs remembering about you. No analytics script runs in your browser either; our host counts page requests from its own server logs, in aggregate, which tells us a page was read and never who read it. Your saved quiz progress and the claims you mark as filed live only in your own browser's local storage — we never receive the saved copy or the filed list, and clearing your browser data removes them. The answers themselves are sent to be scored, as described above, and discarded.
Your rights
State laws like the CCPA/CPRA give you rights to access, correct, and delete the personal information a business holds about you, and to opt out of its sale. We sell none and share none, and the only personal information we could ever hold is a contact-form message or a notice tip-off you chose to send. To have one deleted early — or if you think we have something else of yours — use the contact form and we will look.
