SMART Payment Plan auto-loan CFPB redress

SMART Payment Plan ran a biweekly payment service for car loans and gave enrollees individualized benefit summaries that, the CFPB found, promised interest savings its own fees would usually swallow. The Bureau's order funded redress for enrollees and the distribution has been listed as ongoing since September 2025. If you enrolled a car loan in the SMART Plan you may be eligible; the administrator identifies recipients itself, so there is nothing to submit. Payment amounts are estimates, and neither the CFPB nor the administrator charges for any part of this.

There is no claim form for this one. The administrator pays consumers it has already identified, so the useful step is to make sure they can reach you — not to file anything. Anyone offering to file it for you, for a fee, is selling you nothing.

Model and year are a starting point, not a decision — coverage usually turns on the individual vehicle. Check yours on the official claim page, which is where any VIN lookup lives.

CFPB v. SMART Payment Plan, LLC

The CFPB's consent order entered a redress judgment that was largely suspended on the company's inability to pay, with harmed consumers potentially reached through the Bureau's civil penalty fund instead. That makes individual payments estimates set by the administrator, not a share of the headline figure. There is no claim form and no fee.
