Hughes Federal Credit Union repossession settlement
Hughes Federal Credit Union has settled an Arizona class action brought by borrowers whose vehicles it repossessed. If the credit union financed your vehicle, or took over the loan, and repossessed it while you had an Arizona address between May 18, 2019 and August 4, 2023, you may be eligible for a share of a $7,000,000 fund worked out from your finance charge and amount financed — the FAQ projects about $1,067 a person, which is an estimate and not a promise. There is no claim form and nothing to pay anyone: the administrator mails checks to class members who do not opt out by November 20, 2026, and about $25.6 million in disputed deficiency balances is cancelled with the credit tradelines deleted. The fairness hearing is December 7, 2026, and only the administrator decides who is paid.
There is no claim form for this one. The administrator pays consumers it has already identified, so the useful step is to make sure they can reach you — not to file anything. Anyone offering to file it for you, for a fee, is selling you nothing.

Expected
The notice gives no distribution date. The fairness hearing is set for December 7, 2026, and the administrator pays after the court approves the settlement and any appeals are resolved.
Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

Dametrius Harrison, et al. v. Hughes Federal Credit Union · C20232230 · Superior Court of Arizona, Pima County
A $7,000,000 fund, paid pro rata on each class member's finance charge and amount financed; the FAQ projects roughly $1,067 a person, which is the administrator's estimate and not a figure anyone has been paid. There is no claim form. Checks are the default and an electronic payment can be requested instead. Separately, about $25.6 million in disputed deficiency balances is wiped out and the credit bureaus asked to delete the tradelines within 60 days, for class members who stay in. The court has not approved the settlement yet.

Why this case happened
The case concerns vehicles repossessed by Hughes Federal Credit Union, or on loans assigned to it, from borrowers with Arizona addresses. The credit union denies the allegations and the court has not ruled on the merits. The November 20, 2026 deadline is also the date for electing how a disputed deficiency balance is handled.
