HealthPort medical records fee settlement

This settlement covers people who asked a Pennsylvania healthcare provider for copies of medical records between July 15, 2005 and September 3, 2012 and paid HealthPort Technologies the maximum basic, search-and-retrieval or per-page copying fees allowed under Pennsylvania's Medical Records Act. If that was you — patients, their representatives, and the attorneys or insurers who requested records for them — you may be eligible to recover 35 percent of those fees. Claims close on November 30, 2026, and the online claim opens with the Class Member ID from the mailed notice, which also lists the transactions on file. Filing on the official settlement site is free, and only the administrator decides what a claim is worth.

Expected

The final fairness hearing was set for October 16, 2026 and claims stay open until November 30, 2026, so the administrator publishes no distribution date yet.

Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

David M. Landay v. Datavant LLC, successor to HealthPort Technologies, LLC · GD-09-012923 · Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania

The settlement returns 35 percent of what a class member paid HealthPort in basic fees, search and retrieval fees and per-page copying charges on each qualifying request, so the amount depends entirely on what that person was invoiced. The administrator holds HealthPort's own transaction records and lists them against your Class Member ID. No total payout range is published.

Eligibility questions

These questions help you decide whether to read the official notice. They are not a legal determination.

Did you pay HealthPort Technologies for copies of medical records from a Pennsylvania provider between July 15, 2005 and September 3, 2012?

Requests made by a patient, a representative, an attorney or an insurer all count.

Do you still have the invoices or payment records for those medical record requests?

The claim form lists the transactions the administrator already holds for your Class Member ID.
