WPM Pathology and Salina Regional data breach settlement

A targeted cyberattack on WPM Pathology Laboratory's systems in November 2024 reached files holding names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, diagnoses and health insurance claim details. The settlement covers everyone whose private information was caught up in it, including everyone the two organisations wrote to. If you were notified you may be eligible for a flat $45 with no paperwork, or instead for documented losses of up to $400 for ordinary costs and up to $4,000 for identity theft, plus two years of identity monitoring. Claims close on October 19, 2026 and filing on the official settlement site is free.

Expected

The court is due to consider final approval on December 16, 2026, and payments follow approval and any appeals.

Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

Steinle v. WPM Pathology Laboratory, and Salina Regional Health Center, Inc. · SA-2025-CV-000218 · District Court of Saline County, Kansas

The simple option is a flat $45 with no documentation. Instead of that you can claim documented ordinary out-of-pocket costs up to $400, or documented extraordinary losses from identity theft or fraud up to $4,000, plus up to four hours of lost time at $20 an hour. Everyone in the class may also take two years of CyEx Identity Defense Complete with $1,000,000 of identity theft insurance. The settlement site does not publish a fund size, so every figure here is a ceiling rather than a promise.

Eligibility questions

These questions help you decide whether to read the official notice. They are not a legal determination.

Did you receive a letter saying your information was involved in the WPM Pathology Laboratory data breach?
Did you have lab work handled by WPM Pathology Laboratory or Salina Regional Health Center?
Did you spend money or time dealing with fraud or identity theft after the breach?

Documented costs can be claimed instead of the flat payment.
