Steel Warehouse data incident settlement
Steel Warehouse Company has settled claims over a targeted cyberattack on its systems in January 2025 that the notice says may have exposed names, Social Security numbers, driver's license and government ID numbers, dates of birth and financial information. If you were sent notice that you are on the class list, you may be eligible for a flat $40 with no receipts, or up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket costs plus up to three hours of lost time at $20 an hour, along with a year of credit monitoring. Claims close December 1, 2026 and the court rules on final approval on October 21, 2026. Filing on the official settlement site is free.

Expected
The notice says payments go out only if the court grants final approval at the October 21, 2026 hearing and after any appeals are resolved.
Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

A flat $40 cash payment needs no receipts. Instead of it, a claim can cover up to $5,000 in documented out-of-pocket costs dated between January 23, 2025 and December 1, 2026, plus up to three hours of lost time at $20 an hour. One year of CyEx Financial Shield Complete monitoring is offered separately. The online form asks for the Login ID and PIN printed on the mailed notice; the administrator will re-send those by email, and the printable form can be mailed without them. These are ceilings, not amounts anyone is promised.
