TRC Staffing Services data breach settlement

TRC Staffing Services, the staffing agency that also trades as TRC Talent Solutions, has agreed to a $1.7 million settlement over a data breach between March 25 and April 12, 2024. US residents who were sent a notice letter about it may be eligible for either reimbursement of up to $5,000 in documented losses plus up to four hours of lost time at $20 an hour, or an alternative payment of up to $200 that needs no documents. Both options are paid from the same fund, so these are caps rather than amounts anyone is promised. Claims close December 22, 2026, and filing on the official settlement site is free.

Expected

The FAQ says distributions happen after the court grants final approval at the January 6, 2027 hearing and after any appeals are resolved, so the timing is not settled.

Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

Two options on one form. Documented losses are reimbursed up to $5,000 with receipts or other third-party evidence, plus up to four hours of lost time at $20 an hour. The alternative is a pro rata cash payment of up to $200 that needs no documentation. Both come out of the same $1.7 million fund after fees and costs, so the alternative payment shrinks as more people claim. The figures are caps, not promised amounts.

Eligibility questions

These questions help you decide whether to read the official notice. They are not a legal determination.

Did you get a notice letter from TRC Staffing Services or TRC Talent Solutions about the 2024 data breach?

The class is US residents TRC sent a notice letter to.

Do you have receipts or statements for money you spent dealing with that breach?

Receipts lead to the documented-loss option; the alternative payment needs none.
