GeoTek cybersecurity incident settlement

GeoTek, Inc. has agreed to a $150,000 settlement over a September 2023 cyberattack that the complaint says exposed employee names, addresses and Social Security numbers. The class is current and former GeoTek employees living in the United States whose information was affected, so if you worked there you may be eligible for a $25 cash payment, or $75 if you live in California, with no proof required, or instead reimbursement of up to $2,000 in documented expenses, plus two years of credit monitoring. Claims close December 1, 2026, and the court decides whether to approve the settlement on December 11, 2026. Filing on the official settlement site is free, and only the administrator and the court decide who is paid.

Expected

The notice says the court has still to decide whether to approve the settlement at the December 11, 2026 hearing, and that payments follow approval and the resolution of any appeals.

Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

Two years of credit monitoring with $1 million of identity-theft insurance is also offered and needs only enrollment. The online form opens with a LoginID and PIN from the postcard notice, which the administrator will reissue on request. All figures are estimates from the notice.
