FTC Handy Technologies Settlement
The FTC is sending 62,893 checks totaling more than $2.7 million to people who worked for the gig platform Handy Technologies at some point between January 2019 and November 2024. The FTC and the New York Attorney General said Handy overstated what workers could earn and did not clearly explain fees and fines, including charges for jobs left incomplete when a customer failed to cancel properly. Checks are mailed from existing records with no claim form described; cash yours within 90 days, and direct questions to the administrator, Simpluris, on 1-833-647-9063. The FTC will not ask you to pay money to receive a refund.
There is no claim form for this one. The administrator pays consumers it has already identified, so the useful step is to make sure they can reach you — not to file anything. Anyone offering to file it for you, for a fee, is selling you nothing.
