CUSO Financial Services cybersecurity incident settlement

CUSO Financial Services, a broker-dealer that works through credit unions, has settled claims over a cybersecurity incident at a third-party service provider between December 19, 2023 and January 19, 2024. People whose personal information was held in CUSO's systems may be eligible for two years of three-bureau credit monitoring, reimbursement of up to $5,000 in documented out-of-pocket losses, and a residual cash payment of up to $599 that depends on how many claims are approved; California residents may also claim up to $100 under state law. Each of those figures is a ceiling, not an amount anyone is promised. Claims close November 16, 2026, and filing on the official settlement site is free.

Expected

The court is due to consider final approval on February 18, 2027, and the notice ties any payment to that decision, so nothing is scheduled to go out before then.

Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

Every class member may enroll in two years of three-bureau credit monitoring from IDX. Documented out-of-pocket losses are reimbursed up to $5,000 with supporting paperwork. California residents may claim up to $100 under state law with proof of residency. A residual cash payment of up to $599 is shared pro rata out of whatever is left, so it falls as more claims are approved. These are ceilings rather than promised amounts.
