Carter Federal Credit Union data incident settlement

Carter Federal Credit Union has settled a lawsuit over a cyberattack beginning on or about June 25, 2025 that the notice says reached names, Social Security numbers, ID numbers and financial information. The class is everyone whose information was compromised in that incident, so if the credit union wrote to you, you may be eligible for a flat $50 payment with no documents, or instead reimbursement of up to $2,500 in documented losses, plus three years of financial monitoring. Claims close November 19, 2026, and the court decides whether to approve the settlement on November 30, 2026. Filing on the official settlement site is free, and only the administrator and the court decide who is paid.

When the money moves

What the official materials say about the payment schedule for this settlement, and what the administrator has published since. Every figure below is linked to the page it was read from.

Expected

The notice says payments are distributed only after the court approves the settlement at the November 30, 2026 hearing and any appeals are resolved, and gives no distribution date.

Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.
