Generic prescription drug price-fixing restitution for consumers
A coalition of state attorneys general has settled with six generic drug makers — Glenmark, Lannett, Bausch, Apotex, Heritage and its parent Emcure — over an alleged scheme to fix the prices of more than 100 generic prescription drugs. The California Attorney General puts the total at about $96.5 million and says consumers who bought one of the listed generic drugs between May 2009 and December 2019 may be eligible for compensation. Claims run to March 8, 2027. There is no charge to file on the official program site, and the list of covered drugs is published there.

Expected
The attorney general's announcement gives no distribution date; payments follow the claims period, which runs to March 8, 2027.
Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

The six settlements total about $96.5 million across nearly every state and territory, and a payment is a share of that pool, so the amount depends on how many valid claims arrive. No per-person figure is published, and any amount is an estimate rather than a guarantee. The claim site refused our automated requests, so exactly what the form asks for could not be read; the attorney general says a claim can be filed online or on a printed form returned by mail, and the covered drug list is published on the claim site.
Why this case happened
A multistate coalition of attorneys general settled with the generic drug makers Glenmark, Lannett, Bausch, Apotex and Heritage, together with Heritage's parent Emcure, over an alleged scheme to fix the prices of more than 100 generic prescription drugs sold in the United States. The California Attorney General's announcement of September 2026 urges consumers who bought a covered drug to claim compensation.
