Star Casualty total loss fee settlement
Star Casualty settled claims that it shortchanged Florida drivers on total loss payouts by leaving out title and tag transfer fees and deducting storage and towing charges it should not have. If you held a Star Casualty Florida auto policy and had a total loss claim settled on an actual cash value basis between March 22, 2018 and June 26, 2026, you may be eligible. The notice puts the recovery at up to $79.85 in unpaid fees plus up to $200 of improper deductions plus prejudgment interest, less anything already paid — its own example comes to $204.85 plus interest, which is an illustration rather than a promise. Claims close October 26, 2026, the form needs the Claim ID and PIN from the mailed notice, and filing on the official site is free.
When the money moves
What the official materials say about the payment schedule for this settlement, and what the administrator has published since. Every figure below is linked to the page it was read from.
Expected
The FAQ says distributions are made within 90 days of the effective date, which follows final approval and the resolution of any objection or appeal.
Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

Maxim Kharevich v. Star Casualty Insurance Company · 2023-013380-CA-01 · Circuit Court of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County, Florida
Up to $79.85 in unpaid title transfer and tag transfer fees, plus repayment of excess storage and towing deducted from the actual cash value — capped at $25 a day for up to eight days, so $200 — plus prejudgment interest, less anything Star Casualty already paid. The notice's own worked example comes to $204.85 plus interest. What any one person receives depends on their own claim and is not guaranteed. The online form opens with the Claim ID and PIN from the mailed or emailed notice, and a pre-filled paper form was mailed to many class members. Filing on the official site is free.

Why this case happened
The suit alleged that Star Casualty, when settling Florida first-party total loss claims on an actual cash value basis, did not pay the full title and tag transfer fees owed and deducted storage and towing charges it should not have. The insurer denies wrongdoing and no court decided the claims.
