Inotiv data breach settlement

Inotiv, a contract research organization, has settled a lawsuit over an August 2025 data breach. The class is everyone Inotiv sent a breach notice to, and if you were one of them you may be eligible for a flat $45 payment with no paperwork, or instead up to $500 in documented out-of-pocket costs, up to $4,000 for documented identity theft or fraud, and up to $80 for time spent, plus two years of identity-theft protection. Claims close December 2, 2026, and the court decides whether to approve the settlement on December 3, 2026. Filing on the official settlement site is free, and only the administrator and the court decide who is paid.

When the money moves

What the official materials say about the payment schedule for this settlement, and what the administrator has published since. Every figure below is linked to the page it was read from.

Expected

The notice says benefits are provided only after the court approves the settlement at the December 3, 2026 hearing and any appeals are resolved, so the timing is not fixed.

Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

Doyal v. Inotiv Inc. · 49D01-2604-CE-020713 · Superior Court for Marion County, Indiana

The no-paperwork option is a flat $45. Instead of that, a class member may claim up to $500 in documented ordinary out-of-pocket costs, up to $4,000 for documented identity theft or fraud traced to the breach, and up to $80 for lost time at $20 an hour for up to four hours. Two years of identity-theft protection with $1 million of medical identity-theft insurance is offered as well. The online form opens only with a LoginID and PIN printed on the mailed notice; a paper form can be mailed instead. Every figure is an estimate from the notice, not a guaranteed payment.
