California Casualty data breach settlement

California Casualty has settled a class action over a cyberattack it discovered in September 2025 that the notice says may have reached names, Social Security numbers, driver's license and passport numbers, medical records, health insurance details and financial account information. The class is living US residents whose information was affected, including everyone sent notice, so policyholders and staff who received that letter may be eligible. A claim can be a flat $50 with no receipts or up to $4,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses, plus two years of credit monitoring. Claims close November 16, 2026, and filing on the official site is free.

Expected

The notice says payments are distributed only if the court grants final approval at the December 4, 2026 hearing and after any appeals are resolved.

Read off the official notice, in its own words. These dates slip — an appeal can move a distribution by a year or more — so treat it as the administrator's plan rather than a schedule.

Mohammed Amin, et al. v. California Casualty Indemnity Exchange d/b/a California Casualty Group · STK-CV-UBT-2026-0003331 · Superior Court of California, County of San Joaquin

A flat $50 cash payment needs no receipts. Instead of it, a claim can cover up to $4,000 in documented out-of-pocket losses dated between September 2, 2025 and November 16, 2026. Two years of CyEx Financial Shield Complete monitoring, which the notice says carries $1 million of financial fraud insurance, is offered as well. The online form asks for the Login ID and PIN from the mailed notice; the administrator will re-send those by email, and a printable form can be mailed instead. No fund total is stated in the notice.

Do you have receipts or statements for money you spent because of that breach?
