Flo's $59.5M settlement: what the period-tracker case was about

One of the largest app-privacy settlements on record is paying out now. No notice ID is needed, and California users from the class period may receive a larger share.

Between November 2016 and February 2019, the Flo period-tracking app allegedly shared users' menstruation and pregnancy data with third parties without consent. Flo Health, Flurry, and Google agreed to settlements totaling $59.5 million. The companies deny the allegations.

If you used the app during that window, you may be eligible for a pro rata cash payment. The claim deadline is October 15, 2026, and unlike many settlements, you do not need a notice ID to file.

Why California users may receive more

California's privacy laws are stronger than federal ones, so the settlement pays a larger pro rata share to people who lived in California during the class period and used the app there. The claim form asks about California residency specifically — answer it accurately.

As with every pro rata settlement, the final per-person amount depends on how many valid claims are filed. Early estimates are never guarantees.

The bigger pattern

Health-adjacent apps — period trackers, fitness logs, meditation apps — sit outside HIPAA in most cases. This case is part of a wave of privacy settlements testing what apps can do with sensitive data. When a settlement like this opens, the official litigation site is the only place to file.
