Dr. Squatch's $9M settlement: what the 'natural' label fight means

The men's personal-care brand is settling claims that some products labeled natural contained synthetic ingredients. Purchases from November 2018 through August 2026 may be eligible.

Plaintiffs alleged that certain Dr. Squatch shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, and soaps were marketed as natural even though they contained ingredients the plaintiffs say were synthetic. Dr. Squatch denies the allegations and maintains the products were properly labeled.

The parties settled for $9,000,000 without any finding of wrongdoing. If you bought covered products in the U.S. between November 1, 2018 and August 29, 2026, you may be eligible for a pro rata payment.

Why 'natural' cases keep settling

There is no single legal definition of 'natural' for personal-care products, which makes these cases expensive to fight and common to settle. For consumers, the practical point is simpler: watch for the settlement notice, and file only on the official administrator's site.

The claim deadline here is November 27, 2026. Payments are pro rata — the per-person amount depends on how many valid claims arrive, so treat any early estimate as a rough guess.

If a notice reached you

Notices for this settlement went to people whose purchase records indicate they bought a covered product. You can file with or without the notice on the official site. If anything you read anywhere — including here — disagrees with the official notice, the official notice controls.

This article is for informational purposes only and is not legal advice. We do not file claims, and filing on the official administrator or government site is always free. If anything here disagrees with an official notice, the official notice controls.
